MNPS Virtual School Named a “Top Public High School” by Nashville Business Journal
For a second year in a row, MNPS Virtual School has been named among the “Top Public High Schools” in Middle Tennessee by Nashville Business Journal. Schools are ranked by the publication based upon the percentage of students who score 21 or higher on the ACT exam. For 2016-2017, MNPS Virtual School students achieved an average composite score of 23.8 - sporting over a two point composite gain from last school year. In fact, ACT scores for Virtual School have consistently risen over the past four years with school-wide composite scores as follows:
- 20.3 (2013-2014)
- 21.0 (2014-2015)
- 21.6 (2015-2016)
- 23.8 (2016-2017)
Much of the success is attributed to Virtual School’s ACT Prep Program - led by ACT Tutor and v-Dean of Instruction, Mr. Michael Terry. Terry notes, “I am very proud of the effort of our v-students. They worked hard, trusted the process, and believed in themselves. I look forward to building upon their effort with a whole new set of students this year.” The ACT Prep Program entails both blended and face-to-face ACT coaching with Mr. Terry. Since its inception four years ago, this initiative has consistently supported Virtual School students’ ACT readiness.
