MNPS VS 2018 Teacher of the Year-Mrs. Lissy Mann!!!
NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE. MNPS Virtual School is excited to announce our 2018 Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Melissa “Lissy” Mann! This is Mann’s third year of teaching at Virtual School. Lissy currently teaches middle school English and Science. Executive Principal of Virtual School, Dr. James Vince Witty, shares, “Mrs. Lissy Mann is a rare jewel. You will not meet a more dedicated, humble, and deserving teacher for such a distinguished honor. Every conversation with Lissy begins and ends with the unique social, emotional, and learning needs of her students. Mrs. Mann is the type of instructional leader and person we all should aspire to be like. I am excited to see what the future has in store for such a talented teacher and dedicated leader.”
Mrs. Lissy Mann earned a Bachelor of Art in Psychology at the University of Alabama and a Master of Arts in Teaching at Bellarmine University. Currently, Ms. Lissy Mann is working on an Education Specialist Degree at Trevecca Nazarene University. In the Fall, Mann plans to continue at Trevecca Nazarene University to complete a Doctor of Education Degree.
Mann is a positive, driven, and compassionate teacher-leader. Lissy emphasizes, “I believe that all students deserve a teacher that believes in them. I love helping students understand how amazing they are and realizing just how much they are capable of accomplishing.” This is Mann’s seventh year in education. Accomplishing an honor such as Teacher of the Year—so early in her teaching career—is a testament to Lissy’s passion for teaching and learning.
