Charles “Van” Hawk, v-Student Support Specialist and program creator notes, “The v-Bucks Program is another way that MNPS Virtual School is working to fulfill our mission of providing an ‘empowering education’ to students. As an economics teacher, I know the power of incentives. This program gives our students the opportunity to reward themselves, learn to save, make choices, and develop many other skills they will use in the future. Plus, learners can buy school swag, which is very cool!” Dr. James Vince Witty, Executive Principal of MNPS Virtual School, states “I am so proud of the thought and hard work put into this new initiative.” Witty continues, “While student engagement can be challenging for a virtual school, we continue to seek out ways to increase engagement and celebrate learning. The v-Bucks Program does just that and much more!”
All MNPS Virtual School students will earn and manage v-bucks in a system called “Live School.” Live School is much like a bank account where students can accumulate, track, and spend v-bucks. Be on the lookout for more information, coming soon, on our v-Bucks Initiative and Live School accounts.
