Mrs. Adrienne McNew Celebrated During National School Counseling Week

NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE. MNPS Virtual School is excited to celebrate National School Counseling Week. The importance of school counselors is paramount to students’ academic, social, and emotional success. Counselors impact lives, every single day, throughout the United States. At MNPS Virtual School, students are fortunate to have Mrs. Adrienne McNew as their school counselor.

Since July of 2012, Mrs. Adrienne McNew has passionately worked on behalf of the students at MNPS Virtual School. McNew meets with all students and families, each year, ensuring that students are on-track to graduate, experiencing academic success, and planning for college and career. If students are experiencing difficulties, either academically or emotionally, McNew works to provide individualized supports. Mrs. Adrienne McNew even visits students at home when transportation is an issue. Dr. James Vince Witty, Executive Principal of MNPS Virtual School notes, “Adrienne has a laser focus on the academic, social, and emotional well-being of all virtual students. McNew is noted by students, parents, and teachers, as most-caring, kind, passionate, and hard working. The MNPS Virtual School community is lucky to have Mrs. McNew! She is one of the best things about our school.”

A South Carolina native, Adrienne attended The College of Charleston for her undergraduate degree in Psychology. McNew went on to earn her Master of Education Degree in Secondary School Counseling at The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina. During her tenure at MNPS Virtual School, Adrienne has been celebrated for the following personal and professional accomplishments:
